Jezebel Cocktail
photos by Talitha Schroeder
The Jezebel is a popular cocktail all over New Orleans but our version of it is unique. Our Jezebel recipe comes from the long-closed Tchoupitoulas restaurant, which was bought by famous New Orleans madam Norma Wallace in the early 1950s. It replaces gin with rum and is full of passionfruit and fresh-squeezed citrus.
The biblical Jezebel was known for her wicked ways; the only thing wicked about our Jezebel is its unsuspecting wallop.
Ingredients
2 ounces apricot brandy
1 ½ ounces Plantery pineapple rum
2 ounces orange Juice
2 ounces lemon juice
4 ounces passion fruit juice
¾ ounce blackberry brandy
Directions
Shake everything, except blackberry brandy, for 15-30 seconds and dump with ice into a hurricane or highball glass. Top with more ice (crushed if you have it). Float blackberry brandy on top & garnish with orange wheel.

King Cake
King Cake is a classic Mardi Gras treat but it’s also popular for Christmas, especially the Feast of the Epiphany. Here’s a version from our Midway Bakery for you to try at home. If you can’t get your hands on a little plastic baby for the fève, feel free to wrap a coin in foil. And don’t forget to warn your guests!
